Before you give up on your travel dreams, give the Greek Islands Trick a go. Anyone who’s able to be flexible with their travel plans knows that’s a great way to travel for less. Traveling during a destination’s shoulder seasons, usually spring and fall, makes for an excellent balance of lower prices than peak season and better weather than low season. And, if bad weather isn’t a concern, traveling during the low season means even lower prices.
But not everyone has the luxury of flexibility. Summer is popular for many reasons, not least the warm weather and school break schedule. How many terminals are there in Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)?
Los Angeles International Airport technically has nine terminals (although Terminal 2 is officially considered part of the “Terminal 3 complex”) with a combined total of 146 gates between them. Terminals 1-8 are numbered, and the ninth terminal is the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT), also known as Terminal B.
There’s also a satellite building from the TBIT with additional gates, known as the West Gates at Tom Bradley International. In addition, there’s a very small Regional Terminal that’s unconnected to any of the other airport buildings.
The Terminal 3 Complex is connected to Terminal B and the West Gates via an inter-terminal shuttle, and Terminals 4-5 are connected to the Regional Terminal via a separate shuttle. There are also walkways (both above- and underground) linking Terminals 4-8 and Terminal B.

Terminal 1: Some international passengers departing from Terminal B must check in in Terminal 1. Dining and shopping options include Reilly’s Irish Pub, Urth Caffe & Bar, Rock & Brews Concert Bar & Grill, Kiehl’s, and fast food.

Terminal 2 and Terminal 3: All gates that were formerly in Terminal 2 are now accessed via the check-in and security areas in Terminal 3. Terminal B (Tom Bradley International Terminal) and West Gates: This is LAX’s biggest terminal and the primary international terminal. Dining and shopping options are extremely plentiful throughout Terminal B, with multiple Duty Free shops, luxury boutiques, airport staple shops, and a huge variety of local, fast food, and chain restaurants. The lounges in Terminal B are operated by American Express Centurion, Emirates, Korean Air/SkyTeam, oneworld Alliance, Qantas, and Star Alliance.

How early should I arrive to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) before my flight?
Generally speaking, travelers on domestic flights are told to arrive at an airport two hours before departure. For international flights, it’s three hours. But, depending on the airport and your specific travel plan, you may not need to get there that early—or, in the case of an airport as gigantic as LAX, you may need to give yourself even more time. Here are a few things to consider:

How big is the airport? LAX is massive. There are nine terminals, most of which have their own check-in and security areas, but not all of them are interconnected by walkways or shuttles. To make things more confusing, there are ongoing construction projects in several terminals that may make getting from point to point less straightforward than it would otherwise be.

Where is your gate? The distance from each security checkpoint to the gates varies, and in some cases, the terminal where you check in and go through security isn’t the same one you’ll fly out of, which means a longer distance to your gate. It may take 10 or more minutes to walk to the furthest gates, and if you need to take a shuttle between terminals, that may be another 20 minutes or more.

Do you need to check in or check a bag? Airlines have cutoff times before departure times, after which passengers can no longer check in (about 30-60 minutes before a flight) or check luggage (about 45-60 minutes before a flight). Checking in at home can save time, but if you need to check in at the airport for some reason—or if you need to check a bag—be sure to give yourself plenty of extra time.

How busy is the airport? Not only is LAX huge, but it’s also among the busiest airports in the country. The airport’s website doesn’t post real-time security wait times, but the standard lines usually take at least 20 minutes. If your flight is around a holiday, during the peak summer season, or on one of the busier days to travel, the time needed to get through security and to your gate will be even greater.
At the very least, it’s a good idea to get to LAX at least two hours before a flight—and if it's peak travel time, particularly during construction, you may want to give yourself at least three hours before even a domestic flight.
