Chase Ultimate Rewards® points are the transferable points currency earned by Chase travel rewards credit cards. You can use them as you would cash-back, or to book travel through the Chase Travel(SM) portal on the Chase website. But you can maximize the value of your points by transferring them to Chase’s travel partners like airlines and hotels, and then booking using points directly with those partners.

Chase transfer partners

Chase has 11 airline partners and three hotel partners. You can transfer your Ultimate Rewards® points to any of these partners.

Chase airline transfer partners

The following are the 11 airline programs that are Chase transfer partners:

  • Aer Lingus AerClub
  • Air Canada Aeroplan
  • Air France / KLM Flying Blue
  • British Airways Executive Club
  • Emirates Skywards
  • Iberia Plus
  • JetBlue TrueBlue
  • Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
  • Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards
  • United MileagePlus
  • Virgin Atlantic Flying Club

All points transfer at a one to one (1:1) ratio, which means that one Chase point is equivalent to one mile or point with all of these loyalty programs, once transferred.

Anecdotally, transfers to all these partners are relatively instantaneous, with one exception: transfers to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer usually take 24 hours to process.

Chase hotel partners

Chase’s currently has three hotel transfer partners.

  • IHG Rewards
  • Marriott Bonvoy
  • World of Hyatt

All points transfer at a 1:1 ratio to these programs. Transfers to IHG Rewards and World of Hyatt are instantaneous, but transfers to Marriott may take a day or two.

On the whole, transferring points to hotels rarely maximizes the value of your points, with the exception of transfers to World of Hyatt. You’re better off sticking to points transfers to airlines to get the most pow for your points. OK, fine, bang for your buck.

How to transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards® points to airline partners

Step 1: On your desktop, log into the Chase Ultimate Rewards®.

Enter your login credentials that you use to access your Chase account online, then select your credit card that earns Chase Ultimate Rewards® points. If you have multiple travel rewards credit cards with Chase, it doesn’t matter which you choose.

(Best practice is to keep your Chase points pooled together under one credit card. Instructions on how to combine points across Chase cards coming soon.)

Step 2: Open the sidebar and click the ‘Transfer to Travel Partners’ button.

Step 3: Select the airline you want to transfer points to.

When you click on an airline, it will display the terms of your points transfer, the timing, and other details. From here, click “Transfer Points.”

If it’s your first time transferring points to an airline loyalty program, you will be prompted to enter your account number for that program.

In order to transfer Chase points to an airline loyalty program, you need to first have an account with that program. It’s a good idea to proactively make accounts with these programs because some have rules that require an account to be open for a certain period of time before you can transfer points to it. It can get unwieldy with different member ID numbers and passwords, so keep track of your account numbers somewhere safe, like in a password manager.

See the full list of the current Chase transfer partners below.

Step 4: Transfer your points.

Enter the number of points you want to transfer from Chase to your selected airline. You’ll then be prompted to review and confirm the amount. If everything looks correct, click “Submit.”

And that’s it. You should see your points appear in your airline loyalty program within a few minutes, as all Chase points transfers are instantaneous, with the exception of transfers to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer.

Remember: all transfers are final. Once you move your Chase points to an airline loyalty program, you can’t move those points back into your Chase account. You can always add points to your account, but you can’t subtract—except by redeeming them, of course.

(Depending on the airline program, there may be limits to how many points you can transfer at once, and how often you can transfer. Be sure to double check the terms of your points transfer before you make the move. We’ll cover these rules in more detail in program-specific guides in the future.)

Travel tip: Only transfer Chase points to an airline when you're ready to book

Once you move your Chase points to an airline loyalty program, you can’t move those points back into your Chase account. For that reason, we recommend holding your points in your Chase account until you see a flight that you want to book with points.
