The Most Popular Bucket-List Activities in Each US State

Roughly 70% of the top bucket-list activities chosen by travelers are outdoor activities such as roadtripping, hiking, or visiting beaches, national parks, and mountains. Historic sites, particularly civil rights history, along with cultural attractions, food, and drinks are also at the top of the list for many travelers.

Here are the top experiences in each state, plus tips on how to make each one happen. 
 

Alabama: Explore 32 miles of white sand on the Gulf Shores beaches

• First runner up: Learning about civil rights history in Selma, Birmingham, or Montgomery
• Second runner up: Feasting at the state’s best barbecue restaurants 
   

Getting there: Alabama has several major airports, including Huntsville International Airport (HSV), Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM), and Mobile Regional Airport (MOB).
